As part of our ongoing work on this swimming pool project, we have just installed the white marble tiles & ceramic wall tiles in the changing rooms.
We used the same white marble tiles that were used in the en-suite bathroom in the main house.

These marble tiles are called Oriental white and are from China.
I love the veining in these tiles, it brings real character to the changing rooms.
The dimensions of the white marble tiles are 600 x 600 and 20mm thick.
Like all natural stone the thickness varies slightly, so it’s important to gauge the size of your notched trowel correctly.
And because these tiles are classed as large format, you need to back butter the back of the tile before laying.
Back buttering helps to ensure that adhesive has made full contact with the tile & substrate.
We used mapei’s keraquick white adhesive & latex additive. No water is used in the mix when laying white marble.
Reducing the amount of water in the adhesive bed is important because water can soak through the marble and create staining.
White marble skirting was cut on site to the correct heights and installed.
Grouting is the final item of work and we used Mapei’s Ultra colour plus. Approximately 5mm joints.
It’s important to seal marble tiles so they become water proof and reduce the risk of staining.
We’ve been using a sealer called Dry Treat Stain Proof for many years, and recommend it for all of our natural stone products.
All the necessary information can be viewed on Dry Treats website here www.drytreat.com
Due to Dry Treats unique micro porous technology, the sealant actually lines the capillaries of the stone.
So it sits within the stone rather than on top like the old surface sealers used too.
This means that you don’t have to re-seal every 6 to 12 months and can go without re-sealing for many years.
We supply a huge range of natural stone & engineered stone tiles, some of which can be viewed at our showroom in Par near St Austell in Cornwall.
When you visit our showroom you can discuss your project with one of the Everything Stone team.
We’re open 6 days a week, on Mondays to Fridays from 8 – 5 and on Saturdays from 9 – 2.
