We have now completed the installation of the large curved stone wall which clads the main timber frame structure of the house. We have used approximately 24 ton of Cornish slate on this wall. The slate was cut to 100mm thick at the quarry before being transported to us for this project in Bath.
Continuing with our work in Bath, our clients managed to salvage two Limestone (Bath Stone) Gate Posts when the previous house was demolished. We excavated the gate post holes to the correct depth and lowered the gate posts into position using a swing shovel and strops. These posts were then braced using timber and concreted.
After the retaining wall has been constructed we install a weed suppressant membrane at the rear of the wall. The clean stone is then poured directly behind the wall, this clean stone allows water to run through from the earth bank and down to the land drain below.
Ongoing works in the garden at Wych Elm see’s us constructing the main retaining wall structures. First we have to get the blocks from the front of the house down into the bottom of the rear garden using a 6 ton dumper.
Our Clients in Bodmin came to us looking for a company who could help them with all of their stone requirements for their up and coming barn conversion.
The next stage of work at Wych Elm is in the garden. We are installing two retaining walls, one to retain a steep slope leading down to the swimming pool and another to retain a patio on the East terrace.
Wych Elm is a residential house that has been built in Bath for a Cornish Client. We have been contracted to carry out various works, this second stage of works sees us starting to install the Cornish walling stone, cladding around two curved walls.
Wych Elm is a newly built house in Bath where the emphasis was on design. This house has a huge amount of character which was clearly down to the owners who had a massive involvement with the project.
