We have now completed the installation of sandstone paving at a project near Liskeard in Cornwall, and set to work pointing the joints. We are using GftK joint mortar which is really easy to use and produces a decent finish without having to touch the mortar during application.

Our first job on this project was to protect the river bank from further erosion. So after a lot of deliberation with the customer, we decided to use gabion baskets at the foot of the river bank. Our first job was to clear the foot of the bank from stones and large rocks.
As part of our ongoing work on this landscaping project, we have to install a reinforced concrete staircase. We use Faheys Concrete who are based down the road from our offices and showrooms at Par. And they have a long reach conveyor which makes our life on a site like this much easier.
We will be carrying out some balcony screeding on this landscaping project. We use two layers of wax builders paper to separate the existing balcony deck substrate from the cementitious screed. We also install insulation around the perimeter of the balcony which is removed after screeding and filled with a weak 10:1 sand and cement.
So our next job is to construct the timber shuttering for a staircase. We just finished the retaining walls and steps on the lower section, and now we need to install the long flight of steps leading up to the main terrace.
Today we started hard landscaping in Newquay, it’s actually a project in the village of Crantock. There’s lot’s to do on this project, including the installation of limestone paving that will wrap around the house. A new flight of granite steps will lead up to the main entrance door.
A customer in Truro asked us to replace their Bath stone columns at the main entrance to their town house… Bath stone is actually a limestone and there’s a few open cast limestone quarries up in and around Bath.
Our hard landscaping project at Sennen in Cornwall has come to an end, and it’s looking awesome… This landscaping project was extremely challenging due to the access restrictions and the very nature of the work. We installed limestone paving around the swimming pool on a bed of flexible adhesive with latex additive.
We are now installing the slate paving around the house. We have five slate patios and two slate paths to install. First we reduce excavate the necessary areas before bringing in the hardcore.
